On campus business majors are advised by professional academic advisors in a centralized office, freshman through senior year. Students are assigned to an academic advisor based on their major. Students who are enrolled in the online degree program are advised by a designated team of advisors. The school's study abroad advisors work with all UF students who are interested in Heavener School of Business study abroad or exchange programs. All advisors are available by appointment, on a walk-in basis, via e-mail, and the Web.

The College of Education has a formal process of selective admission to our upper-division teacher education program as a student transitions into the junior year. Prior to candidacy, the Student Services office is the primary advising contact. After admission, a faculty advisor is assigned to each student, and Student Services becomes a secondary advising contact. The Student Services office also provides education minors with advising and general teacher certification advising for non-ED students.

First-year engineering students in Aerospace Engineering (ASE), Chemical Engineering (CHE),  Computer Science (CSE), Digital Arts & Sciences (DAS), Exploratory Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME) are advised in the College’s Undergraduate Student Affairs office in 204 Weil Hall. First-year students are beginning students (not transfer students) admitted in summer B or fall, regardless of number of credit hours. All other engineering students are advised by their respective departments. All engineering majors are required to see an academic advisor at least once each semester.

Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) are advised by the Academic Advising Center (AAC), a centralized office with a team of professional academic advisors. CLAS majors are not assigned to an academic advisor, but can request a specific advisor. Students also receive advice from their major/department on major-specific questions. Botany, zoology, and biology departmental advising is conducted by designated AAC advisors. 

In addition, the Academic Advising Center also advises all UF students who are exploratory, pre-health, pre-law, or in the first year of the AIM Program.
The AAC provides advising services primarily on a walk-in basis from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, although appointments, e-mail, and phone advising services are also available during non-peak times.
