Academic Assistance

Interested in how to calculate your GPA or what deficit points mean?  Know where you stand academically by understanding UF’s Grades and Grading Policies. Students seeking assistance with courses, including understanding instructional approaches or learning styles, should visit the Teaching Center at the University of Florida. Together with the Reading and Writing Centers, these academic resources offer individual instruction designed to help students improve their reading and writing skills. Students can review for exams, or take advantage of a wide variety of written material and software to prepare for the CLAST Reading, Essay, and Language Skills test, as well as the GRE, the LSAT, the MCAT, and the GMAT.

Walk-in tutoring through the Teaching Center provides a free service where you can drop in and receive help in mathematics, science, engineering, and more.  No appointment is necessary.  Standing appointments, free private tutoring sessions that happen on a recurring basis, are also available. A study skills/learning strategies improvement program is also free to all University of Florida students.  Students may work individually with a learning strategist or participate in workshops covering a variety of topics.

Disability Resources are available to students requiring special accommodations or resources for their academic programs.

Academic advising is offered through Housing and Resident Education’ s Academic Initiative and Enhancement program. The Residential Exploratory adviser and Crisis Consultant is an academic adviser for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. The adviser is available on a walk-in basis to answer questions about degrees granted from CLAS, CALS, and to offer resources for other general academic advising questions, particularly for exploratory students. Look for the adviser's hours posted in the Graham residence area.

Free tutoring is also provided by a number of more specialized programs such as OASIS, which provides peer tutoring in Accounting, Algebra, Biology, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1-3, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Economics, English, Spanish, Physics, Stastistics, and Trigonometry. All the tutoring sessions are conducted on a one-on-one basis which provide an enhanced and effective learning environment.
